Another important part of the OSTA fall conference is the conducting of the official business of the Association, namely the election of officers and the ratification of any proposed changes to the OSTA Constitution. The OSTA leadership has been working to update and modernize the Association in light of new capabilities and new realities and so the last couple of years have seen a number of proposed changes in the OSTA Constitution and By-Laws. This year we have a few more changes to consider. The bulk of the changes are small re-wordings that shift the beginning of the OSTA operating year for membership, elected offices, and finances to January 1. Other changes include adding the possibility for OSTA Board meetings to occur via conference call (thus reducing the time and expenses of Board members, some of whom drive several hours to attend Board meeting) and allowing for a procedure for electronic voting on Board motions.
See the proposed changes for yourself here. The underlined passages are proposed new language, the language that is struckthrough wording is language to be deleated.
You will be provided the opportunity to vote for ratification of the OSTA Constitution revision at the OSTA Fall Staff Development Conference on Saturday, November 6th in Howell Hall on the campus of the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond. Voting begins at 8 AM and polls will close following the last presentation.
