The Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) will present Viral Outbreak: The Science of Emerging Disease – the eighteenth show in the annual Holiday Lectures on Science, an award-winning science program for biology students – via live webcast on December 2 and 3. This year’s speakers are Joseph L. DeRisi, Ph.D., HHMI investigator at the University of California, San Francisco, and Eva Harris, Ph.D., Professor of Infectious Diseases at the University of California, Berkeley. They will explain how they use both simple and sophisticated technologies to detect and fight infectious agents. Join Joe DeRisi and Eva Harris online, as they discuss their strategies for combating today’s epidemics, while preparing for those of tomorrow.
