On Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at 6:30 pm NSTA will host a web seminar that will review the newly released National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) 2009 Science report. OSTA members (as well as all NSTA Affiliate members) are invited to participate in this very important web seminar on the NAEP 2009 report on science.
Since NAEP assessments are administered uniformly using the same sets of test booklets across the nation, NAEP results serve as a common metric for all states and selected urban districts. The NAEP 2009 Science Report Card gives a detailed assessment of what students across the United States know and can do in science. Additionally, the report provides science education leaders an analysis of how their state is faring compared to the rest of the nation.
With the recent findings of the PISA report showing American students maintain an average understanding of science, with only 29 percent at or above level 4 on the science literacy scale, the NAEP report will give educators more data on student science performance. The NAEP results are also broken down by student demographics and by state.
Join NSTA and OSTA in this free web seminar to inform and discuss the NAEP 2009 report on science. To register go to http://learningcenter.nsta.org/products/symposia_seminars/NAEP/webseminar.aspx
