Science Museum Oklahoma will keep the museum open late, and free, for educators and their families as part of its Educator Preview January 21. The one night event is designed to give teachers a sneak peak of things to come for their students in the year ahead.
“Educator previews allow us to showcase our exhibits, programs, and academic opportunities to the teaching community in a fun way,” said Bret Mahoney, academic networking coordinator at Science Museum Oklahoma. “Teachers that attend this event can see how the Museum can serve as an extension of their classrooms.”
The educator preview takes place January 21 from 3:30 p.m to 9:00 p.m. The event is exclusively for teachers and their families. Family members will be welcome to explore the museum and teachers will get one-on-one time with Museum staff as well as a preview of educational opportunities and events in the coming year.
“Educator previews are incredibly helpful in that they provide an opportunity for teachers to see how the Museum can serve as an academic resource,” said Sue Bishop, Kindergarten teacher at Parkview Adventist Academy. “When they open up the building just for educators we can explore and learn like students again.”
