$5,000 grants for individual teachers
$10,000 for teams of two or more teachers
The national Fund for Teachers has teamed up with the Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence and the Tulsa Community College to sponsor Fund for Teachers-Oklahoma, which awards grants to teachers for self-designed summer professional development opportunities. Fund for Teachers-Oklahoma gives educators the creative freedom to design unique summer learning and travel experiences that will enhance their teaching and ultimately bring a world of new experiences to their students.
In its first three years, the program has provided more than $1.1 million in grants to benefit 363 educators. Their journeys have taken them from the plains and forests of Oklahoma and the ecological wonders of Costa Rica to the classical ruins of Rome and the Great Wall of China.
Fund for Teachers grants are awarded to public and private school teachers who work with students in grades Pre-K thru 12 and have three or more years of teaching experience. Teachers must submit an online proposal that details how their summer fellowship will benefi t their professional growth, student learning, curricula and school community. Grants are awarded based on the merit of the proposal as determined by a selection committee.
Interested teachers may apply online beginning October 15, 2008.
