Oklahoma GEAR UP and College Board are offering several Pre-AP summer institutes in English, math, social studies and science http://www.okhighered.org/gearup/schools/workshops-ap.shtml#summer .
GEAR UP offers these in conjunction with College Board. You don’t have to currently teacher AP or Pre-AP to attend. Here’s information from the website: “The College Board’s Advanced Placement Program® is a national standard for academic rigor and college readiness that provides millions of high school students with the opportunity to engage in college-level course work. http://www.okhighered.org/gearup/schools/workshops-ap.shtml#summer (Registration information available at this site.)
There is no registration fee to attend these workshops. Each registrant will be paid a stipend of $150 per day for successful completion of an entire workshop. Partial stipends will not be paid in the event a day is missed. However, the participant may continue to attend a workshop if a day is missed, but the stipend will become forfeit. All workshops are dependent upon reaching minimal enrollment numbers. Preference will be given to designated GEAR UP schools http://www.okhighered.org/gearup/schools.shtml#schools . If seating is available, additional registrants will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis from GEAR UP-eligible schools. To be GEAR UP eligible, a district/site must have a free and reduced lunch rate of 50 percent or more and must participate in the EPAS http://www.okhighered.org/epas/ program.”
