Hello BioBlitzers and Friends of the Oklahoma Biological Survey…
Now is the time to register for BioBlitz! 2011 at the Chickasaw National Recreation Area on Octobter 14-15.
www.biosurvey.ou.edu/bioblitz/BioBlitz.html
ALL REGISTRATIONS MUST BE COMPLETED BEFORE OCTOBER 13th.
There will be NO ON-SITE REGISTRATION. National Park Service rules do not allow the exchange of money on federal property by outside parties. Therefore all registration must be done prior to arriving at BioBlitz!
Please note there are few changes for this year’s event…
In appreciation of the dedication and hard work of our volunteer expert biologists, we will be waiving the registration fee for all taxa team leaders and activity leaders! If you fall into this category – don’t register online, instead I will contact you.
There will be *NO MEAL* provided on Friday night. The facilities at the park make it difficult for us to provide a full meal to a large group, but we will have s’mores around the campfire Friday evening. The park is near to the town of Sulphur, so if you don’t want eat your camp food, there are plenty of options close by.
Things that will be the same as recent years:
- A full schedule of activities for citizen scientists
- Camping for two nights
- Event t-shirt depicting an organism from the area (no, we haven’t decided yet!)
- Light breakfast on Saturday morning
- Celebration with cake at the conclusion of the inventory
- BioBlitz! 2011 patch, for $2.00
- 24 hours of Biodiversity!
Checkout the website for additional information about how BioBlitz! works.
I am excited about this year’s event and look forward to seeing you in a few months!
