The Advanced Placement* (AP*) Summer Institute for teachers is offered by Academic Programs-CITD within University of Oklahoma Outreach College of Continuing Education, in collaboration with The College Board.
New and experienced AP and Pre AP* teachers will gather on the University of Oklahoma campus and spend a week exploring the latest methods and curriculum topics in all aspects of AP course content, organization and methodology. Teacher participants will conclude their Institute experience at OU with renewed enthusiasm for the AP Program* and equipped with new ideas and resource materials to use in their classrooms.
Institute leaders are recognized members of the AP teaching community who are dedicated to improving student achievement through effective support of AP professionals.

Due to new institute funding requirements from the Department of Education, the following classes will not be open for registration until March 19, 2012 unless you have received notification granting priority registration from the Department of Education. At that time, available spaces will be filled in the order that registration forms are received.

Pre AP* HS Math
AP* US History
Pre AP* Social Studies
AP* English Literature
AP* English Language
Pre AP* HS English (two sections)
Pre AP* MS English
AP* Biology (offered both weeks)

Course Descriptions
Oklahoma public school teachers may attend the Institute – as a resident with double-occupancy lodging or commuter – free of charge through the Oklahoma AP* Incentive Program established by the State Department of Education by submitting a completed registration form. The Incentive Program does not cover the additional costs for a single room.
Oklahoma private school teachers or teachers from other states are not covered by Oklahoma State funding. Participants in these categories need to follow the instructions on the registration form to register.
Registration Fees
Commuter or resident registration fees for Oklahoma public teachers are covered by the AP* Incentive Program (with double-occupancy hotel lodging) . The additional fees for a single room, if desired, are not covered and are due with registration. There are a limited number of single rooms available on a first-come, first-serve basis for an additional $225 for the week. Single rooms are only available during July 9-12.
The fee for Oklahoma private school teachers and teachers from other states is $640, which includes the Institute registration fee, course materials, lunches and if required, double occupancy hotel housing Sunday through Wednesday nights.

Note: All mailed or faxed registrations must be completed and signed on the second page by the registrant. Payment, where applicable, is due with the registration. Incomplete registrations will not be accepted. Registered participants will receive an acknowledgement letter within two weeks. The deadline for registering is June 15, 2011.
