Have you ever thought of the irony that while the world celebrates Earth Day each year on April 22nd, we Oklahomans (at least those of us here in central Oklahoma) celebrate one of the largest land give-a-ways in American history by celebrating “Land Run Day” on the same date? An interesting juxtaposition no doubt… Then again, we don’t really celebrate Columbus Day.
But back to Earth Day. Oklahoma City has a number of Earth Day themed events scheduled for April 22-26, including Earth Fest at Martin Nature Park and Party of the Planet at the Zoo. Oklahoma City residents (only) can also take advantage of special opportunities to unload their hazardous waste and ride the city bus system for free. Download the event flier here.
